The aim of R4 is to bring together, in an innovative way and on the same site, varied and complementary figures in the world of art and to provide them with a stimulating and creative environment.

R4 is a pioneering venture for Ile Seguin, and an unprecedented initiative in the art world: it aims to encourage encounters between artists, art dealers, collectors, art lovers, providers of logistics services and exhibition curators, and in so doing create a “vibrant art community”.

Its architecture is functional and versatile, comprising exhibition spaces and galleries, artists’ and artisans’ studios, salesrooms and warehouses, digital platforms and multi-purpose stages, and is designed to meet the many and varied needs of its users and thus serve as a source of synergies. R4 sees itself as a venue that is open to everybody, on the one hand as an opportunity for encounters between the creators and the commercial players who together make up the contemporary art scene, and on the other as a place of discovery for the general public, who will be able to see for themselves the most avant-garde works of art and also take a look behind the scenes.

The Sculpture and Visual Arts Portal is located in the heart of the “Valley of Culture” to the west of Paris, and is also part of the developing Greater Paris area. R4 is a key component of the overall Ile Seguin development project spearheaded by SAEM Val de Seine Aménagement. Its aim is to interact with the other cultural centres planned for the island, which will be focused on the visual arts, music, the cinema and digital creation.

In July 2016, the project was taken over by Emerige through the acquisition of SCI R4.
